RadCast Soil Radiation Test of Sweet Home, OR

Sweet Home is in a river valley in the foot hills of the Oregon Cascades, just east of the Willamette Vally. The region’s geology is dominated by volcanic phenomena, starting 52 million years before present, until now. The active volcanic zone has shifted just 40 to 70 miles to our east. The lavas and volcanic ashes that make up the soil are mineral rich. Amongst these minerals, the thorium (Th 234) evident in these spectra has a magma source brought to the surface by volcanic processes. The combined spectra are from four separate  locations in the valley, miles apart. The thorium 234 peaks are most prominent. These peaks high light a radon concern in the Sweet Home area.
