The reason that the NRC and the EPA are listed is not that they are trusted but that they contain pertinent information useful to our needs; you can find nuclear ‘EVENTS’ on the NRC pages which happen at nuclear plants around the US very often. The EPA site has graphs and data from monitoring when they choose to monitor.*
*The EPA chose to take down it’s monitoring systems in CA, OR, and WA after 311 occurred at the time when we needed monitoring done most.
